Echoes of echo
We were having trouble running batch files from a command line this morning. The error coming back was that 'echo.' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. Poking around online gave us a discussion from alt.msdos.batch late last year where someone else was having the same trouble. (Imagine that!) His solution turned out to be the same as ours: In previous experimentation or errors, we had created an empty file named echo in the same directory from which we were running our batch files this morning. Naturally, trying to run that file as a Windows command failed.
