Camaro Rock: The Final Cut

A-TEAM

B-TEAM

WTF?

(You may want to visit my original Camaro Rock page for the origin of this thing and the Second Cut list for the immediately preceding iteration.)

This is essentially the final list of songs for Camaro Rock. “Essentially” because I may never stop fiddling, and there’s likely to be a song I hear five years from now that is a real head-slapper for inclusion. The list you see is the full MP3 version (with the exception of the Outtakes group, which will be included here at a later date). I anticipate that there are those who would want different versions, most likely an A-Team only version and a CD-Ready version (that is, .wav files or similar), and I’ll get right on that.

There are few changes from the Second Cut list, and my complaint about the compilation sagging in some places is still a little valid. After listening to it several more times, though, I’ve come to the conclusion (or “realized,” depending on how you see it) that a summer music collection from the late ’70s can be slow in places. Summer is a languid time, after all, and despite punk and disco’s births and New Wave’s conception in that time, music for the Camaro set was a little slower.
There is a bunch of rearranging in the last third of the list which I think made it better. “Whole Lotta Rosie” came in for “It’s a Long Way to the Top (If You Wanna Rock and Roll)” because it has a better riff; the swap leaves me with only two good meta-songs about being a rock group (Grand Funk’s “We’re an American Band” and KISS’s “Beth”, though the latter may be classed primarily as a rock ballad) but the air/mouth guitar potential compensates.

The nomenclature for the second string has changed also, since I decided to include them in the default playlist. There should be a special 10-second silence in between and, but that is out of scope at this time. Further, anyone who gets a copy of the MP3 version is, naturally, free to remix to their delight.
